Dr. Gibson provides low vision rehabilitation services for those patients who have reduced vision due to macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy or other eye disease. Services include a careful history and exam to determine what devices would best suit your needs. Some examples are glasses for reading only, telescopic glasses for distance viewing such as TV viewing or sporting events, magnifiers of different strengths for reading newspapers, recipes or books and filters for glare control. Unfortunately, these devices will not restore vision to the level it was before but are intended to help with tasks of daily living. She accepts referrals from and makes referrals to the Southern Illinois Center for Independent Living and the Illinois Bureau of Blind Services for comprehensive adaptive care.
